Abstract

The purpose of this research were to: 1) study the problem conditions and conducting classroom research 2) develop a strategy for developing classroom research competency and 3) study the classroom research performance of teachers in the Border Patrol Police School under the Border Patrol Police Division 33, in 2 aspects: 1) knowledge and understanding of conducting classroom research before and after the development; 2) ability to write a research proposal, conduct research, and write a research report after the development. The population consisted of 248 teachers of 32 Border Patrol Police Schools under the Border Patrol Police Division 33. The purposive sampling method was applied to select 128 teachers in the 2019 academic year. The research instruments were a 30-item test of knowledge and understanding of how to conduct research, and a 27 item-competency assessment of conducting classroom research. The data were statistically analyzed for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The result findings were as follows: 1. Developing classroom research competency through participatory action research processes in teachers at the Border Patrol Police School under the Border Patrol Police Division 33, it was found that the teachers had a 60.06% progression rate of knowledge and understanding in conducting classroom research after development. 2. The teachers had the knowledge to conduct classroom research at a good level after development, which was higher than before the development at the significance level of .05 3. After the development, the teachers’ ability to write a research proposal was at a good level. They was able to write quality research proposal.
